BACKFLOW PREVENTION DEVICES

If you own or lease a commercial tenancy you’ll likely know or have heard about backflow prevention devices. These devices are in place to protect our water from harmful contaminates and can only be serviced by licensed plumbers with the appropriate accreditation.

Requirements

It is a legal requirement of The Water Corporation that all boundary backflow prevention devices are tested annually to ensure they are performing to the required standards. This is to prevent the risk of any harmful contaminates entering the water mains.

Testing of any individual or zone backflow devices are the responsibility of the property owners/tenants to maintain. They are there to protect the drinking water within a property’s boundary from being contaminated with anything harmful. These devices also require annual testing but do not require The Water Corporation backflow prevention test report.
